Peeter Piegaze

Documentation Systems Architect · Head of Documentation

Summary

I design and build documentation systems, and the AI agents that write docs on top of them. At Union.ai I built the documentation platform for Flyte 2 and Union from the ground up, then built an agent that writes and maintains docs using it.

Before that I led documentation rewrites at Sonar and Unblu and built Adobe's publishing platform for AEM documentation. I co-authored and edited the Java Content Repository specification (JSR-170 and JSR-283), the foundation of Adobe Experience Manager. Over 25 years I have worked as a software engineer, API architect, specification author and documentation lead.

Experience

Head of Documentation · Union.ai

2023–present · Remote

Union.ai is a durable AI runtime built on open-source Flyte. Teams use it to turn their data into models, agents and apps in plain Python, on infrastructure they control.

  • Built the docs system. Designed and built Union.ai's docs-as-code platform on Hugo, with:
    • Multi-variant, single-source conditional rendering.
    • Versioning.
    • API, CLI and Helm reference generated from source.
    • Code examples embedded from tested source files.
    • Search and Ask AI scoped to the reader's version.
    • LLM-readable rendering: a Markdown twin of every page, plus llms.txt and llms-full.txt.
  • Built a docs-writing agent on top. Built an AI agent that works on top of the docs system, drawing on a range of tools, to write and update documentation, and to support Q&A, doc review and tracking of upstream SDK changes.
  • Hugo
  • Docs-as-code
  • GitHub Actions
  • Python
  • LLM agents
  • Claude
  • llms.txt
